Chicago and Marine Corps Marathon Training Recap, Week 14

Well, leave it to me to wait until the last minute to (try to) kick my training into gear! I was so good in the beginning but dropped off quite a bit in the middle of my plan, so here I am in the past couple of weeks trying to play catch-up in the end! Nothing too crazy as I don’t want to overwhelm myself in the last two weeks before the Chicago Marathon. My stats for the week:

A humid 15 miles to start the week

Sunday, 9/24:  15.1 mile run

Monday, 9/25:  12 hour work day

Tuesday, 9/26: 12 hour work day

Wednesday, 9/27:  27.5 mile bike/5.1 mile run

Beautiful day for a bike ride

Thursday, 9/28:  45 minutes strength training

Friday, 9/29:  5.1 mile run

Saturday, 9/30:  35 minutes cardio/15 minutes strength training

It was another hot and humid week in Chicago, and we all are hoping the weather will behave this weekend. We are expecting rain for the latter part of the week. Fingers crossed Sunday will be dry!

Rain, rain, go away!

I’m still debating over and over in my head what time goal to set for Chicago. I honestly only ever want to finish, but I do want to challenge myself without overwhelming myself in the process. I have a pretty good idea of what I’m capable of, as long as no one (including Mother Nature) throws a wrench at me on Sunday!

2017 Chicago Marathon Finisher Medal

And ooh….spoiler alert! The finisher medal for Chicago was unveiled today…isn’t she a beaut??? I can’t wait to add it to my collection!!!

Do you establish your race goals and train with those goals in mind, or do you establish them closer to race day? Who all is running Chicago? Good luck to all of you!!!
