On May 19th I will be running the Chicago Spring Half Marathon, a signature event produced by Life Time. I have not run this race before, so I am looking forward to a fun spring time race in my home town! The race starts near Maggie Daley Park in Chicago and takes runners south past 47th Street along Lake Shore Drive, then back north along the lake shore, finishing at the park. The post-race event features a hot gourmet breakfast buffet (yes, please!), the Athletico recovery zone, a spring market featuring local vendors, spring flowers, a Lagunitas beer garden, live music, and more! After what I’m sure will be another brutal winter here in Chicago, I will be ready for some spring fun!
Interested in running this race? You can register online here. There also is a 10K option for anyone who can’t do the half. Use code BRCHISPRING19 for $10 off of the half marathon or $5 off of the 10K distance!
And if you want to make a fun family day out of it, children aged 2 through 12 can participate in the Junior Dash around the Skating Ribbon at Maggie Daley Park. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and finisher prize to celebrate their achievement. It’s a great way to involve the kids in a fun outdoor activity! Check out the race website for more information.
Have you ever run this race? What do you like best about spring racing in Chicago? What other races do you have on your calendar for 2019?
I will be running the London Marathon on April 28th, raising funds for Whizz-Kidz, an organization that provides wheelchairs and mobility devices for children and young adults. If you’d like to contribute to my fundraising efforts, you can do so by clicking on the link below. Any donation, big or small, will help and is greatly appreciated!
Oh wow! You have so many great race plans! I hope your London training is going well and that half sounds great!
I’m so excited for my upcoming races! London will be here before I know it!
I’ve run this race a few times, however the start/finish was not Maggie Daley Park. I suspect this is a good change as in previous years it was rainy and the post-race party became a royal mud pit. Cool medal!
I’ve not run it before, and I’m really looking forward to it! Hopefully the weather will cooperate!
This one looks like so much fun! I would absolutely love to race in Chicago, but our travel plans haven’t gotten us up that way in a while. Maybe soon!
It seems like there are races in Chicago throughout the year. Hopefully one of the dates will work out with your future travel plans!
I so wish that i lived in Chicago – there are so many cool races there!
It’s definitely easy to find races of all distances here throughout the year!
you have such a fun race line up for this year! Looking forward to following along with your adventures
I am trying to do one per month to help keep myself on track. There are just so many great races to choose from!
Looks like a fun race! You know I like running in Chicago 😉
Let’s just hope we don’t have the torrential downpour we got to experience at RnR this past summer!
Chicago certainly has a great variety of races! I wish I lived a little bit closer. That medal is adorable!
It’s nice to have so many choices so close to home!
I’d love to do that race in Chicago, alas I can’t bring myself to travel to the US at the moment … Anyway, I will be supporting the London Marathon – do look out for any black or orange tops with an orange or black lion on and KHRC, that’s my running club and there’s a few of us running. I’ll be at Westferry tube wearing orange!
I will be watching out for you for sure!
This sounds like a fun Spring Half marathon! I have never run in Chicago, but would love to some day. I have always enjoyed doing a spring half to keep me motivated through the winter!!
That’s exactly my strategy – if I sign up for enough races, I’ll have to keep moving throughout the year!
Im not a runner. I wish I could be but I dont have the mental aspect of the sport. I am always in awe of those who do run marathons. This one sounds really cool hope you enjoy it.
Thanks so much! I only started running in recent years and I really am enjoying it!
I have to say that I really miss running in Chicago! My first few years of racing took place in Chicago!
I am excited to see how your races go this year!
Chicago is such a great city for just about everything!
