I can’t believe I am almost halfway through my marathon training! It goes by fast, that’s for sure. And the closer I get to these two marathons, the further my training is getting away from me! Looking at my week below, it looks like I am on the every-other-day training plan. Hey, whatever works, right? Here is my week in review:
Sunday, 8/6: Rest day
Monday, 8/7: 5.1 mile run
Tuesday, 8/8: 12-hour work day; ’nuff said
Wednesday, 8/9: 25.2 mile bike ride
Thursday, 8/10: Rest day
Friday, 8/11: 5.1 mile run
Saturday, 8/12: 15.3 mile bike ride
While I’m not quite where I need to be, I’m glad to have been incorporating the bike, since I know how important it is to train my muscles in different ways. I’m also planning to add weight training this week, which I think will help keep me more on track. I think I burned myself out those first few weeks where I was running five or six days a week. Cutting back the number of days I run will be much more manageable for me.
With my son’s wedding getting ever-closer, I am doing more marathon shoe shopping than marathon training these days. I literally bought the first dress I saw and cannot find shoes to save my life! The search continues…
How are you wrapping up the end of summer? Any fun races coming up? Where can I find fashionable shoes for the wedding that match my dress, are comfortable enough to dance all night in, and won’t kill my feet before my fall marathons???!!!
SHOES ARE THE WORST!!!! I can nail down a dress, no problem. But shoes — can’t we just wear running shoes with fancy dresses??
Ha! Wouldn’t that be nice???
Shoes can be hard to find! Great week o workouts!
My workouts have been lacking, but I will get there!
Whoa, a 12 hour work day?! That’s a lot!
Great job on your workouts this week, especially the long bike rides!
I’m really enjoying the bike rides. So much easier on my knees!
Kudos including bike rides! I always mean to but never do :/
It’s nice to break up the daily runs with the bike!
Ooh look at all of those shoes!! I think it’s great that you have added cycling into your routine it’s great cross training. Have a wonderful week
I love them all, but they all have to go back! Yes, I am really enjoying the cycling…more than I expected. Nice to mix it up.
I am useless when it comes to shoes LOL! DSW usually has some decent choices, but they never have my size (10) in stock. Boo.
Your training is coming along great! Keep it going!
I’ve been to DSW and everywhere else…and nothing! You can order online from DSW–maybe then you can find your size!
How about running shoes? Will anyone see your feet?
Ha! That’s what my mom said. I’m soooo worried about killing my feet just 3 weeks before Chicago!
Shoe shopping is always serious project for me. Dress – no problem but shoes take me forever. Have you tried Nordstrom’s or Zappos?
I’ve been just about everywhere! I ordered a few pair online from Zappos–all went back. The problem with online ordering is the color looks so different in real life. Nordstrom DOES have a pair of Jimmy Choo’s for $700…yeah, no!
Ooooh the wedding stuff sounds exciting! I’m in denial about how close my marathon is getting. I’m so not ready it’s disgusting.
Well like you said, you don’t have a finish time goal. Just get it done.
Ugh. I hate shoe shopping – unless it’s running shoes. Maybe buy what looks cute and kick them off when you start dancing the night away?
I’m thinking I’ll wind up with two pairs…one for the church and one for the reception. UGH is right!
Good luck finding those shoes… and yes, 5 or 6 days running every week is way too much for me too!
Thanks. I knew 5 or 6 days of running would be tough. Three to 4 is so much more manageable!
I love riding my bike. I don’t do as long of rides like you but I generally ride about an hour, early mornings. It’s awesome to be out there!
I am really starting to like the bike rides!
What color is your dress? Maybe go with a “neutral” like silver (I think I saw a couple silver options in the pic?). I seldom ever go matchy-matchy with shoes…I think it looks more interesting to let your shoes be their own entity 😉
The dress is a charcoal gray with dark navy beads and (maybe) golden/bronze sequins. It’s a tough match. Silver is too light; black is too dark. The search continues…
