Alright, folks, you know I’d be lying if I told you about how much I’ve been training for this race. But hey, you know me! November and December have been unusually busy for me in terms of work and business travel, and once again my pseudo-training has gone by the wayside. Last week my family and I spent yet another fun week in Las Vegas, only to have come home this past Tuesday and embark on a whirl-wind of decorating and shopping in time for Christmas! Since my eldest son and his wife will be out of town, we will be celebrating our Christmas tonight, and I still have a ton of things to get done.
So while I am not technically training for this race, I have been planning for it! I’ve booked my flights from Chicago to Santa Ana, and found a great deal on a hotel just 10 miles from the race and only three miles from the airport. With a guaranteed 4:00 p.m. late check-out, that will leave me plenty of time to enjoy the post-race festivities and get back to my hotel for a shower and some rest before I head back to the airport.
In recent weeks I’ve been in contact with some of the other BibRave Pros who will be running this race. This is my first race as a BibRave Pro, so I am very excited to meet some of the other members of the team in person. That’s one of the great things about running – it is such an awesome and friendly community, and through running I’ve made some really great friends in recent years.
Interested in running this race? You can register online here, and use code SCMBR10 for not 10%, not 15%, but through now and December 24th, you can get 20% off of your registration! There are also 5K and full marathon options, and if you can’t make it to the coast, you can run the half or full marathon virtually!
How about you? Have you been lackluster in your training for a race and still had a good time? Have you traveled for a race where you knew virtually no one else running it?
I will be running the London Marathon on April 28th, raising funds for Whizz-Kidz, an organization that provides wheelchairs and mobility devices for children and young adults. If you’d like to contribute to my fundraising efforts, you can do so by clicking on the link below. Any donation, big or small, will help and is greatly appreciated!
